TOOTH ANATOMY
Incisors - the four teeth from the front are situated on the top and bottom of the maxillary (totaling eight teeth). The pair of teeth from the center of the mouth cavity (from the top and the bottom) is the central incisors; the neighbour teeth are the lateral incisors. All the incisors are broad with a shovel aspect and they have a liny edge in order to cut the aliments into pieces. The incisors have only one root.
Canines - – are situated on both sides of the incisors from the top and from the bottom too. There are fully four canines and they are the longest teeth and they have the “longest life” from all teeth from the mouth cavity. The canines are sharp, thick and they become thiner at the base being the ideal teeth for the aliments that are harder to be consumed – vegetables, fruits or meat that need to be lacerated or broken.
Premolars - they are eight teteth and they are situated after the canines. They represent the passage between the canines and the molars having a larger surface in order to “chew” and “grind” the aliments. On the top maxillary the first premolar has two roots while the second premolar has only one root. On the bottom maxillar all the premolars have one root.
Molars - are
the last three teeth from both sides of the mouth cavity and they are situated
up and down too. They are totaling twelvw teeth. They are named/ numbered as
the first, the second and the third molar depending on their position in the
mouth. The first molars named also “6 years molars” are the closest
molars from the front of the mouth cavity and they are situated next to the
premolars. The “second” molars are known as “twelve years
molars”. The “third” molars, known as “mind tooth”,
are the last teeth situated at the back terminal from the mouth cavity. Molars
are teeth with large surfaces and they are used for the “crushing, milling
and chewing” the aliments. On the top maxillar, the teeth have three roots
meanwhile on the bottom maxillar the teeth have only two roots.
